The founder and President, Michael Kaniela Wheeler, received his Juris Doctorate at Rutgers-Newark School of Law and is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey. While attending law school, Mr. Wheeler worked in the business and legal department of J Records. Upon graduating law school, Mr. Wheeler began his legal career at the law firm of Sidley Austin LLP in New York City where his practice focused on general corporate law and securities law, soft intellectual property issues in the entertainment industry and pro bono work for Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts. His clients included major investment banks, Fortune 500 companies as well as Latin American companies accessing the U.S. capital markets. After six years at Sidley Austin, Mr. Wheeler then moved to Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP as counsel in New York City and specialized in general corporate law and mergers and acquisitions for mid-market companies.
